This weekend we were at Middlewich and West Didsbury Makers Markets selling our gorgeous Rowallan leather. It was great to catch up with some our fellow Makers and loyal customers at Middlewich, and really exciting to see how well the new market in West Didsbury went down with the locals! There was great music and entertainment, and the whole market was buzzing with a proper Mancunian vibe!
The whole point of the Makers Markets is to provide a platform for crafters from all over the North West to show off their wares to local communities in and around Manchester. Bring together award winning food and drink, and throw in some original art and craft, and you have a good idea of what makes a Makers Market! With our Rowallan leather satchels being lovingly handcrafted in Scotland, we love to showcase our products alongside other talented producers. Amongst our favourite traders are Joanne’s gorgeous pieces of original jewellery at Opal Gems, and Ben Sedman’s stunning photographic montages of Manchester and beyond.
You will find Middlewich Makers trading along the main high street in the town, on the last saturday of every month, and West Didsbury is based at Withington Community Hospital on the last sunday of the month. Definitely worth coming to have a look at the next events, there is something for the entire family, and if nothing else, plenty of cake!

With Glastonbury kicking off the festival season this weekend, we have thrown together a hippy chic outfit using our Rowallan rustic across the body bag for inspiration! Ideal for long days in a sunny field, it’s the perfect size for everything from your sunnies to your suncream, easy to throw on, and looks the part! And it’s available from http://www.youniqueuk.co.uk 🙂
Take a look at some of our upcoming events over the next month!
This weekend, we took an exciting roadtrip acorss the border to Edinburgh, for the Royal Highland Show. We were confident our Scottish made Rowallan leather satchels would fit right in, and we couldn’t have been happier with how well they went down with our customers!
We were trading in the Cottage Industries tent, who support indepedent market traders, giving us space to show off our wares at various shows and events across the UK. There was a great selection of both local and regional traders selling all sorts of beautiful handmade goods, and the atmosphere in the tent buzzed all weekend!
The weather was absolutely glorious throughout the four day event, and we even managed to nip away from our stall to have a little explore around the site. We spotted plenty of ‘hairy coos’ (that’s highland cattle to you and I), and were thrilled to catch some of the equestrian events, to which over 3,000 esteemed riders and their horses travel, from every corner of the Highlands. However, the highlight of the weekend was witnessing the world’s biggest haggis! Couldn’t bring ourselves to try it though, maybe next year….!
Sunburnt, exhausted, and excited for next year’s show, we have now arrived back in Manchester and look forward to our next summer extravaganza!

One of our first Royal Shows of the season, the Bath and West Show was a right royal hoot! We got a bit damp in the rain, but our leather Rowallan satchels went down an absolute storm with the equestrian fashionistas, and even HRH The Duchess of Cornwall popped by to say hello to us and have a look at our bags! She was very sympathetic towards our soggy feet and agreed that the weather could have tried much harder…!
Whilst at the show, we got to see (and smell!) the winner of The British Cheese Awards, tasted a tipple of award winning Somerset cider, and watched some of the country’s most prized livestock compete for best in show! Here at Younique, we love all things equestrian, and our favourite bit of the show by far was meeting some of the most handsome steeds we’ve ever laid eyes on!
Overall we had a fabulous time at the show, not only did we mingle with royalty (both two and four-legged!) but our stall was very popular and we sold many a satchel!
Here’s to next year’s show!

A couple of weekends ago we were at Buxton’s first Artisan Market, organised by The Market Co. and Buxton Town Council. Set up on the high street Spring Gardens in the town centre, the market was buzzing with amazing food, crafty delights, and of course our beautiful Rowallan leather bags! It was a great success, and a brilliant opportunity to get the community of Buxton together with plenty of entertainment and unusual offerings from the various market stalls.
Whilst we were there, we got a chance to wander around the town and check out a few of the independent businesses around Buxton, of which there are plenty! The historical Buxton Spa boasts some really eclectic traders, and after a quick look around the shops, we headed to the tea room at Charlotte’s Chocolates, which has a really lovely roof terrace overlooking the old spa. What a lovely little cafe! A vintage inspired tea room, we had tea out of antique pots and homemade fish finger sandwiches with mushy peas – which were gorgeous! To top it off we got a cheeky free chocolate from their shop downstairs with our bill. Lovely service, reasonably priced yummy food, and a perfect location for a good old brew!
We had a really good day at the market – lots of interest and very positive feedback from our customers who had come from all over Derbyshire to have a look around the market. Overall, an exciting new venture for The Market Co., and we can’t wait for the next one on Saturday 5th July!
